URLA Announces Inaugural Prize Money for 2025 Season
What an incredible season it has been for the Utah Rugby League Association! In our third year, we’ve celebrated significant growth, including the fantastic addition of our fifth team, the Lehi Storm. The level of competition and camaraderie has been outstanding, and it’s even more impressive that all five of our teams are located within a 30-minute drive of each other, creating a truly local and connected league. To celebrate this success and invest in our future, the URLA is thrilled to announce our first-ever prize money for the championship.
This is a landmark moment for our competition. As far as we know, we are the only men’s 13s competition in the entire USA offering prize money, a testament to the dedication of our players, coaches, and supporters.
The prize money for the 2025 URLA Championship will be distributed as follows:

1st Place: $1,500

2nd Place: $1,000
-
3rd Place: $500
Terms for Receiving Prize Money
To ensure fairness and promote accountability across the league, the following terms must be met to receive the prize money:

Player Registration: All players on the roster for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams must be fully paid up with their individual registrations. Please note, we will not deduct outstanding registration fees from the prize money, as this is unfair to the teams and the players who have paid on time. The prize money will be withheld until all registrations for that team are settled.

Team Leadership: To receive the prize money, each team must have its current team presidency (or equivalent leadership structure) officially listed on our website, utahrla.com. This ensures clear communication and responsible management of the funds.

Payment: Prize money will be awarded to the qualifying teams via check within 15 days of the championship day.
Investing in Our Future
This prize money is an investment from the URLA back into the teams that make this league possible. The spending of the money is at the discretion of the team presidencies. However, we strongly encourage that these funds be used to directly benefit your team and its development within the URLA.
We recommend that the money not be used for external tournaments or events. The best use of these funds is to reinvest in the organization that is making this prize possible. Excellent uses for the prize money include:

Purchasing new training equipment (balls, pads, cones, etc.).

Upgrading sideline equipment (water coolers, medical kits, etc.).

Creating a “buy-down” for next year’s URLA registration fees to make it cheaper for your players.
By reinvesting in your team’s infrastructure and your players’ experience within the URLA, we all contribute to a stronger, more sustainable league. When we all invest in the growth of rugby league here in Utah, future years will be even bigger and better, with the potential for even greater rewards.
